The oldest medieval beast epic was translated literally into English prose for the first time in this volume, with Latin on facing pages. The introduction and commentary by Zeydel familiarize the reader with the history and value of the text and constituted a new approach, arguing for the inclusion of Latin literature composed in what is now Germany in the history of German literature.

"Gathering together over sixty new and revised discussions of textual issues, this volume represents notorious problems in well-known texts from the classical era, by authors including Horace, Ennius and Vergil. A follow-up to Vegiliana: Critical Studies on the Texts of Publius Vergilius Maro (2017), the volume includes major contributions to the discussion of Horace's Carmen IV 8 and IV 12, along with studies on Catullus Carmen 67 and Hadrian's Animula vagula, as well as a new contribution on Livy's text at IV 20 in connection with Cossus' spolia opima, and on Vergil's Aeneid 3. 147-152 and 11. 151-153. On Ennius, the author presents several new ideas on Ann. 42 Sk. and 220-22l, and in editing Horace, he suggests new principles for the critical apparatus and tries to find a balance by weighing both sides in several studies, comparing a conservative and a radical approach. Critica will be an important resource for students and scholars of Latin language and literature"--

The importance of metrical analysis to the broad work of textual criticism and literary analysis cannot be overstated. In the thirty years since the publication of R. D. Fulk's A History of Old English Meter, metrical theory has been brought to bear on questions of poetic style, dating and literary history, linguistics and language history, editing practice, manuscript analysis and scribal practice. The essays in this collection include contributions from both new scholars and established metrists. They focus on the application of metrical study to literary criticism and manuscript studies, engaging with current debate and offering new perspectives on the crucial role of metre to Old English scholarship.

The Middle Ages produced a very considerable corpus of latin dialogues but until now a study of this group of texts was missing. In this monograph, the complete dialogue production of the years 1200-1400 (119 works, many of them still unedited) is explored and presented in a detailed repertory which gives title(s), incipit and explicit as well as information on author, date, textual transmission, editions and a summary of the contents. Building on this material, the author can categorize the texts and describe four genres of dialogue (didactic, polemical, introspective and philosophical dialogues) as well as locate them in the literary traditions of Antiquity and the Middle Ages.
